Character Creator UE Control Rig for Unreal Engine
The Character Creator UE Control Rig is a custom Unreal Blueprint that allows you to pose and animate characters in CC format from Character Creator in Unreal Engine, using the standard Control Rig for MetaHuman characters. Reallusion considers the process of exporting rigged characters from Character Creator to Unreal Engine to be more intuitive than using native game engine tools, such as the new Modular Control Rig introduced in Unreal Engine 5.4.
The separate free plugin Auto Setup for Unreal Engine converts CC character skeletons and shaders into Unreal Engine equivalents upon export. A similar process can be utilized for characters created in other DCC applications, automatically installing rigs on them using Character Creator's AccuRig toolkit or the free standalone version. Additionally, the control rig can be used to debug animation created in iClone, a Reallusion animation software, and then exported to Unreal Engine for rendering.
The Character Creator UE Control Rig supports both full-body IK/FK posing and facial expressions based on morphs. To simplify setting up interactions with props, it features a Reach Target system similar to the one found in iClone. Among other key features are the ability to multi-select face and body control elements and save them as reusable preset poses, as demonstrated in the video below.
The Character Creator UE Control Rig is compatible with Unreal Engine 5.3 and above. The add-on is free. The Character Creator itself is compatible with Windows 7 and above. It costs $299. Unreal Engine can be used for free for standalone animation if your revenue does not exceed one million dollars per year.
