Maxon has released Cinema 4D 2024.4

In the Cinema 4D 2024.4 release, the main new feature is Cinema 4D Particles - a new set of tools for working with particles. Unlike previous particle tools, it's integrated into the unified Cinema 4D modeling system, allowing particles to interact with other types of simulations it supports, including rigid and soft bodies, cloth, and Pyro - a new set of tools for smoke and fire simulation.
Cinema 4D Particles work with GPU acceleration and can handle a larger number of particles - and generate more detailed results - than previous tools. Particle systems can be created using a "simple logic tree" in the Object Manager, combining particle emitters, conditions, forces, and modifiers. Particles can be emitted from shapes, meshes, and splines or generated from existing particles, and the created particles can be grouped to simplify modeling control.

New options for using particles have been added to the MoGraph Cloner object for motion graphics. In addition to forces like wind, turbulence, and gravity, particle systems can be controlled with proximity-based modifiers, allowing for the creation of flocks and "predator-prey" behaviors.
Particle simulations can be rendered in Redshift Cinema 4D or saved to cache in Alembic format, enabling export to other DCC applications. Other simulation types, including rigid bodies, cloth, and ropes, can now also be cached in Alembic format. The Connector Object has been updated for creating connections such as hinges and rotations; it now supports dynamic rigid body modeling objects with the ability to automatically generate multiple connections on multiple objects from a single instance.

Rigid bodies and cloth can now react to aerodynamic effects such as drag and lift. Updates to 3D modeling tools include a new Keep Spacing option for the Smooth Edges tool and support for the Live Property Transfer feature for tags from one object to another.

The Asset Browser now automatically launches the Place tool when assets are dragged into the scene and automatically creates a dome light when an HDRI is dragged into the scene. Building on changes to glTF export in Cinema 4D 2024.3, morph pose animation can now be imported in glTF format.

Cinema 4D 2024.4 is available for Windows 10 and above and macOS 11.7.7 and above. The update is available by subscription only, with a subscription to a single product costing $94 per month or $719 per year. To subscribe to Cinema 4D only, users should now click the "Buy Now" button for the "C4D + Redshift" subscription in the Maxon online store, and then select Cinema 4D as the alternative option.
