Substance 3D Modeler is an SDF-based tool that enables the creation of models of organic and solid surfaces in virtual reality or desktop mode using a mouse and keyboard. The workflow combines elements of digital sculpting and boolean modeling: users can sculpt shapes from virtual clay and then combine or cut them using boolean operations.
Substance 3D Modeler 1.8.5 introduced experimental new AI-powered features, with the most notable being Search by Shape, as shown at the beginning of the news. With it, users can tag objects and then find ready-made parts of similar shapes in the Substance 3D Assets library, using keywords to refine the search if necessary. The tagged version can then be replaced in the scene with the ready-made object. Additionally, the resolution enhancement algorithm used to increase the resolution of models has been updated to "better preserve sharp edges and details."
