iClone Unreal Live Link 1.3 by Reallusion

First released in 2019, Unreal Live Link is a plugin, or rather a set of plugins, that connect iClone with Unreal Engine. With their help, users can render animations created in iClone directly in Unreal Engine without the need to manually export and re-import data, enabling real-time preview of changes.

The workflow supports full-body and facial animation with timecode synchronization, as well as the transfer of props, lights, and cameras. Among the new features in Unreal Live Link 1.3 is the ability to bake all animations into a sequence. A new export option allows baking all characters, motions, props, and cameras (excluding lights) in the iClone scene into a single sequence in the Sequencer editor of the Unreal Engine. This workflow is designed to expedite the transfer of crowd animation created using the new crowd modeling features added to the Motion Director toolkit in iClone 8.4.

Additionally, Live Link now supports parallel data processing between iClone and Unreal Engine, allowing users to continue editing the scene in iClone while data is being transferred. Users can also now exclude face morph targets in scenes where characters will only be visible from a distance. Reallusion claims on their website that these changes accelerate the transfer of scenes with a crowd of 50 characters "by 2-6 times".

Unreal Live Link 1.3 is compatible with Unreal Engine 4.20 and above and iClone 7 and above on Windows 7 and 10, although some features require iClone 8 or Unreal Engine 5.0 and above. The plugin is free for indie users with revenue under $100,000 per year, while a full license costs $1490. iClone itself is available for Windows 7 and above, with the cost of new licenses being $599.
