EmberGen 1.1 has been released

Introduced in 2020 and officially released last year, EmberGen is a GPU-based volumetric fluid simulator that enables real-time creation of fire and smoke effects of a complexity that was previously only encountered in standalone tools. The data can be exported to other DCC applications in OpenVDB or Alembic formats or rendered in EmberGen as an image sequence for use in game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine. The software is GPU-agnostic and has relatively low minimum hardware requirements: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or equivalent AMD.

The release is dedicated to improving the quality of the simulation, especially fluids interacting with other objects in the scene, with "massive" improvements in collision and grid voxelization. Announcing the release on Discord, JangaFX CEO Nick Sivert said, "In the past, you might have had issues with a moving collider that could absorb your smoke or struggle to fill pipes with smoke. We are proud to say that this is no longer a problem."
As evidence, you can see a comparison between the current and previous solvers in the video at the top of the article. To aid in creating hollow objects such as pipes or engines, a new Shell option has been added to the Shape Modifier to control the internal thickness.

Additionally, users can now control the transformations of colliders, shapes, emitters, and forces using imported meshes, including the ability to bind them to character bones with skin. In the example above, you can see how the new control system is used to simulate a creature breathing fire.
Workflow improvements include a "minimap" option in the node graph, showing the location of the current view in the overall node graph, as well as enhancements in force masking, gradient color picking, and rendering. There are also 32 new simulation presets, and 30 existing presets have been updated or completely reworked.

EmberGen 1.1 is available for Windows 10 and above, as well as Linux. The indie subscription, designed for artists earning less than 1 million dollars per year, costs $19.99 per month, and after 18 months, users gain the right to a perpetual license. Perpetual licenses for indie users are priced at $299.99.

For studios with annual revenue up to 100 million dollars, perpetual node-locked licenses are priced at $1399.99, and floating licenses cost $2299.99. Other pricing options can be viewed on the link.
