Redshift 3.5.22 by Maxon

Like the previous release, the update enhances the performance of Redshift RT—an experimental rendering engine operating in a near real-time mode. Key changes include asynchronous shader compilation, reducing the time to first pixel by using temporary flat shaders for initial preview and subsequently replacing them with compiled shaders. Redshift RT now supports texture compression to reduce GPU memory usage, and five compression presets enable users to choose the balance between performance and visual quality.

To enhance interactivity while navigating scenes, users can now opt for Russian Roulette sampling, which randomly skips rays with less impact on the final image or adjust parameters for reduced discretization. Additionally, on NVIDIA GPUs, Redshift RT now supports DLSS, enabling improved performance by rendering frames at a lower resolution than the viewport and then upscaling them.

Furthermore, Cinema 4D users have received enhanced support for Substance materials in .sbsar format through the new Substance 3D Material Node in Cinema 4D 2024.2. Meanwhile, 3ds Max users have gained support for the Redshift Color Correct shader.

Redshift 3.5.22 is available for Windows 10, glibc 2.17 and above for Linux, and macOS 12.6/13.3. Renderer integration plugins are compatible with 3ds Max 2018 and above, Blender 2.83 and above, Cinema 4D R21 and above, Houdini 17.5 and above (18.0 on macOS), Katana 4.0v1 and above, and Maya 2018 and above. The software is offered through subscription only, with a subscription cost of $45 per month or $264 annually.
