Release of Plasticity 1.2

Plasticity was first released in April and was dubbed as "CAD for Artists," offering optimized software for NURBS modeling. The program aims to be an affordable and user-friendly alternative to tools like Mol, which the developer cites as a significant source of inspiration, and Fusion 360.

The software features an optimized user interface that uses fewer context-dependent widgets and pop-up panels, aiming to declutter the screen. Additionally, it employs key bindings and selection modes familiar to Blender users.
Although Plasticity 1.2 introduces over 30 new features, the main focus of the update remains on NURBS surfaces. The initial release of Plasticity was optimized for creating "mechanically looking" models, primarily composed of planes and primitives rather than NURBS surfaces.
The update specifically emphasizes creating clean NURBS models, introducing new tools for quickly creating blends between 3D curves, including the ability to turn open curve contours into surfaces. More advanced features include the option to specify G0, G1, G2 continuity individually on edge boundaries.

The update also introduces the new Bridge Surfacing tool, as demonstrated above. Additionally, there are new options for creating bridges, extending and stretching curves, as well as the ability to unfold shapes using multiple guides.

Plasticity 1.2 is available for Windows 10 and above, Ubuntu 22.04 and above, Linux, and macOS 12.0 and above. The software works on both Intel-based computers and Apple Silicon Macs. The update is free for existing users.

New Indie licenses are priced at $99 and allow importing and exporting files in OBJ, STEP, and Parasolid XT formats. Studio licenses support a broader range of file formats and cost $299. Both licenses are node-locked and perpetual. There is also a free trial version available, which only allows importing STEP files and exporting OBJ files.
